VINEYARD HAVEN
Known as "Nobnocket" to the
natives and "Holmes Hole" to the Plymouth colonists,
Vineyard Haven is the only port open during the off-season.
The community is actually a section in the town of Tisbury, although
the areas is known by virtually everybody as Vineyard Haven and
is one of Martha's Vineyard's year-round communities. Vineyard
Haven flourishes with creative shops and restaurants. The early
colonial traits of self-sufficiency and independence are evident
in the overall milieu.
